About Us -

Approximately 18 years ago, Mr. Harris Broussard; who was already in his 60's and retired; started selling carpet on the side of the road in New Caney, Texas. This carpet was used carpet the he would retrieve from dumpsters of carpet stores in the Houston area. He would then clean and restore this carpet to a reconditioned quality and sell it for $3.00 per square yard.     

Mr. Billy Turner, who was the owner of the New Caney Business Center; approached Mr. Brousard after a purchase. He took a liking to his kind ways and offered him a building in his Business Center in New Caney, Texas.  Mr. Broussard took Mr. Turner up on his offer and Discount Carpets was born.                                                      

 Mr. Broussard ran Discount Carpets very successfully, constantly building clientele. One of his good customers was Mr. Jerry Lindenman, the owner of Raycrist Properties. In 1994, Mr. Broussard; being in his mid 70's; decided he was tired and brought in his step-son Mr. Steve Brown to take over the business. By this time the business had built up to such a large customer base, that Mr. Brown was no longer able to find enough used carpet to accommodate all his customers.  

 Mr. Brown decided he should start carrying brand new carpet. He opened accounts with Shaw, Beaulieu, and Mohawk. This was very successful, although his landlord and investor customers were still not satisfied because they were reluctant to purchase brand new carpet for their rental properties. 

 Mr. Brown knew he needed to come up with a new idea to accommodate his large landlord/investor clientele base. So. Mr. Brown went out and made deals with big carpet companies and manufactures to purchase their roll remnants and pieces. Mr. Brown was then able to not only sell used carpet but also brand new carpet remnants at used carpet prices!

Thus creating our slogan: 

 "New Carpet at Used Carpet Prices!"

In the mean time, Mr. Jerry Lindenman; owner of Raycrist Properties in New  Caney, Texas; liked the idea of being able to purchase brand new carpet for almost the same price as used carpet. His business had already grown in size and he was quite a regular customer of Mr. Brown. In 2003 Mr. Lindenman purchased The New Caney Business Center, located at 20842 HWY 59-South in New Caney, Texas.  

Mr. Lindenman, being the economical business man that he was;  spent hours extensively researching different carpet companies to purchase carpet for his over 100 rental properties at a more economical price than Discount Carpets. He tried various methods and called many other carpet companies, researched online distributors and was eventually convinced of what he knew all along.

*Nobody was able to beat Discount Carpet's Prices!

For this reason, in 2006 when Mr. Brown; already in his 60's; decided it was time to retire. Mr. Lindenman came to the realization that without Discount Carpets he would have to spend much much more on carpet than he had been. In May, 2006 Mr. Lindenman purchased Discount Carpets from Mr. Brown with the ultimate goal of securing carpet for his own use.                                                                                                    

Mr. Lindenman was amazed to discover the amount of devoted clientele Discount Carpets had acquired. People were coming from as far away as Waco, TX. and Shreveport LA. From Beaumont to Nacogdoches people came to save money! At this point Mr. Lindenman decided to not only keep Discount Carpets open to the public, but to expand on it's services and products.                                    

He was pleased that he was able to sell to the public at a fraction of what the retail stores charge. He only marks up his products an average of 10-15% and his philosophy is to make a low margin with may customers. Presently one out of every two customers that calls or comes in is a referral. He challenges them to go out and get their best deal, bring it to him and he is usually able to beat them.

* At the time this story took place, Mr. Lindenman checked high and low for a lower price.  There was no lower price to be found.  Therefore, this was his conclusion.
